As South Africans, there’s nothing we love more than cooking meat over an open flame. Embrace your true South African spirit this Heritage Month with a delicious shisa nyama, freshly prepared with a tasty spice mix.
You’ll need:
Spice mix:
2 tsp salt
½ tsp chilli powder
1/3 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp dried oregano
Meat:
4 beef chuck chops, or similar
4 lamb braai chops, or similar
Method:
Mix all the spices together to form your spice mix.
Generously season your meat with the spice mix.
Cook over an open flame to your liking and serve with chakalaka, pap and/or freshly baked bread.
